Yesterday was a day for big thoughts, semi-procrastination, and little epiphanies. I started the day at the computer getting bogged down in minutiae and Mercury Retrograde projects like trying to relaunch a scholarship fundraiser that went sideways four months ago. At one point, I looked up and thought "where has the day gone?" Then I realized it was only 10am. I got in the car. I thought I knew where I was going. I did not. I deliberately took a "wrong" turn, heading inland instead of tracking the coast, and ended up driving along back roads through the redwoods for about four hours. Finally, about five hours after I'd planned to, I arrived at my original destination, a favorite coffee shop in Mendocino where I often work and sometimes hold munches. I'd already built my first week's deck for my intensive next week. I just needed to get the homework built and listed. Suddenly the work felt easy. I dashed out all the homework modules in about 90 minutes, thanked the barista, and headed back down the coast to home. I was ten minutes into my drive when a completely new idea about the major arcana came into my head. That's the thing about deeply working with conceptual models for thirty years; sometimes something that will seem blindingly obvious in retrospect just comes up to surprise you. I couldn't wait to get home and check my theory, which thankfully did check out. That's the thing about thinking in systems and theories, rather than memorizing a lot of rules. After a while, you make deep and unexpected connections. All this to say: if you have an interest in tarot, and want to make deep connections with your deck rather than trying to memorize a bunch of arbitrary card meanings, you might want to join me for our upcoming tarot workshop, which launches on August 10th. (Not into tarot? Fret not! I try to bring this same approach to all of our Wicked Grounds classes, too!) Warmly Mir |

Someone asked me in a comment on a recent post our Facebook group how the Wicked Grounds Scholarship Fund is going. The answer is honestly not great. We last shook the trees four months ago, just as this year's chaos of layoffs and tariffs and uncertainty was hitting people's pocketbooks and psyches. Our drive bombed so badly after one week that I just quietly put it to bed. We ARE still offering scholarships, but we've stopped doing it no-questions-asked for the time being. We've started...
