This Week with Wicked Grounds (5/21 - 6/1)

Hello kinksters - One of the earliest lessons I learned is that world confidence and sexual confidence are inseparable. But at first I got it all backwards. I had this idea that to be a great dominant or sexually-awakened person, I’d first have to gain lots of confidence in the world. And of course, that doesn’t hurt. But I learned something unexpected and life-changing as I dove into the world of polyamory and kink. I discovered that finding the confidence to unearth and ask for my own desires, to play without shame and fear, to build community on my own terms – all of those helped me throughout the rest of my life. As I stepped into my sexual self-awareness, I also learned to speak up for myself in the rest of my life. As I gained the confidence to play (and later teach) in public, I also gained the confidence to take my relationships, creativity, and former career to new levels. Eventually, I gained the bravery to take custody of a beloved community space and forge a new direction for it. I believe strongly that what we learn in the world of kink is not separate from the rest of our lives. What we learn here carries over into transforming all the rest of our lives. I’m not sure what your journey is right now, and I’m not sure what all your challenges are. I know that the world at large is throwing challenges at all of us. What I suspect is this: often, in hard times like these, it’s tempting to assume that our relationships, celebrations, and sexuality are a side-project, something we’ll get back to when the world isn’t on fire. And what I know from my own experience and from watching thousands of others over the years: we are best able to find resilience when we continue to tend our own life-force. That means keeping our sexuality, our vitality, our relationships, and our communities strong. Wicked Grounds is committed to sexual health and kink adventurers for the long term.
